Kurya Ubunnyano is a
cultural practice in Rwanda whereby family and friends gather to celebrate the
birth of a new baby and take part in naming rituals. This custom is frequently
linked to the annual Kwita Izina "Gorilla naming" event in Rwanda,
which has been held since 2005 and whose purpose is to give the newborn baby
gorillas names chosen by various stakeholders of the Rwandan tourism industry.
